Evolutionary ecologist studying how birds adapt to environmental change through field ecology and molecular biology

I am currently a PhD candidate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Kent State University in the Lamichhaney Lab.

I ask:-
a) What determines patterns of biodiversity across landscapes?

b) How do organisms survive, adapt, or fail in rapidly changing and challenging environments?

c) How do biogeography, climate, and human activities interact to influence these patterns?

To answer these questions, I use a highly integrative research framework that combines field surveys and biological sampling, field and laboratory experiments, and computational and statistical tools.

Why does this research matter?

Understanding biodiversity is essential for two reasons:

Scientific insight — to uncover how biodiversity arises and how complex traits evolve in response to geographic, environmental, and anthropogenic pressures.

Conservation action — to generate robust, evidence-based knowledge and decision-ready tools that support effective conservation planning and management.

Beyond science, I enjoy writing poetry and short stories, traveling, birdwatching, and playing or watching soccer and cricket. As a lifelong fan of Arsenal Football Club, I never miss a match!
